Mark Smith Receives A.S.S.I.S.T Recognition
The North Texas Chapter of the Associated Security Services and Investigators of the State of Texas (A.S.S.I.S.T) recognized former Smith Protective Services President Mark Smith for his service and commitment as Secretary of the Private Security Board. Mr. Smith served on the Private Security Board from January 22, 2008 to January 31, 2017. Mark became Secretary shortly after joining the Board.
While serving on the board, Mr. Smith’s duties were to interpret statutes and ensure rules put in place by the Private Security Board enforced those statutes. Some of Mark’s most important accomplishments involved streamlining the myriad of regulations already in place and removing those found to be archaic and overly burdensome without sacrificing the safety of the citizenry.
In addition to his time as secretary, Mark Smith also spent time on the Regulatory Board for private investigators, security guards, alarm companies, locksmiths, armored car services, couriers, guard dog companies, access control services, and others as well as the board’s appellate court for Administrative Law judges. As chairman of the Advisory Committee, his mission was to create rules that allowed more efficient implementation of laws passed by the legislature as well as instating regulations that confined additional rule-making to emergency situations when the legislature was not in session.
Mark Smith accomplished much throughout his nine years working with the Private Security Board. Mr. Smith worked diligently assessing the rules and regulations of the security industry and was able to implement new ideas, ultimately creating a stronger, more efficient Private Security Board. Smith Protective Services proudly congratulates our former president on all his accomplishments!
